Byron Bay, NSW, Australia - Day 4

Monday, February 3, 2025
Andi and I started our Monday morning with workouts and a walk around Byron Bay. It’s easy to make our health a priority when the weather’s warm. We’ve enjoyed spending quality time together while we walk every morning, too.
As we returned to our apartment, Andi’s mom messaged to say now would be a good time to call Andi’s dad. Today is Jim’s birthday (well, technically Feb 2 was yesterday in Australia). We spent about 30 minutes chatting with his parents over FaceTime.
Monday meant it was a school day, so Aden started working on his math studies. Tory already finished her school work while Andi and I were on our walk this morning. She wanted to get it done early so she could watch the Grammy’s from Noon-3pm.
Just before 3:00pm, the four of us hopped in the car and drove to Circus Arts in Byron Bay. Andi saw that there was an indoor training facility in town & he made appointments for the kids to take a private lesson this afternoon.
For the next hour, Tory and Aden practiced tumbling, trampoline, aerials, parkour, and acrobatics. The kids were exhausted by the end of their class. It was hot in the gym without air-conditioning, and they worked really hard. Tory said the ninja course was her favorite activity, and Aden liked the trampoline the best.
Their instructor was so sweet and encouraging. She showed the kids lots of attention and helped them through each of the stations.
I offered fro-yo after class to cool the kids off, but Tory said she wanted to go back to our apartment. She went straight to her bedroom to lie down. Aden seemed like he was doing OK & invited Andi and I to join him in the pool.
Sure, why not?
Aden ended up making a friend, so he swam with a boy about his age while Andi and I sat in the hot tub nearby. We stayed at the pool for about an hour before returning to our apartment.
"We still need a few more steps to reach our 10,000 goal today,” Andi reminded me. Ugh, I didn’t feel like it, but he was right and I appreciated the push. We told the kids we were going out for another walk around town and we’d be back soon.
This time, Andi and I walked through one of the camping holiday parks in town and around the shops & restaurants downtown. We were surprised how quiet town became after the weekend ended. Before heading back to our apartment at Outrigger Bay, we stopped at the fro-yo place to surprise Tory and Aden with treats. At home, we warmed up leftover burgers and green beans for dinner and watched the latest episode of Georgie and Mandy together.
Tonight is our last night in Byron Bay. I think we’ll all a little sad to see this portion of our trip coming to an end. Always better to leave on a good note. Tomorrow, we’ll pack our bags for the airport and travel to Hobart, Tazmania.
